The Xiaomi Smart Camera C201 is a motorized indoor security camera designed to provide convenient, intelligent monitoring around the home. Equipped with a 2MP camera and 1920 × 1080 Full HD resolution, it captures clear video for everyday monitoring of living spaces, entrances, children, pets and other important indoor areas. Unlike a fixed-view camera, the C201 uses a dual-axis motorized pan-and-tilt mechanism that allows the lens to move horizontally and vertically. The camera can be controlled remotely from a smartphone, providing 360° panoramic monitoring and making it easier to check different parts of a room without physically repositioning the camera. Intelligent local AI adds useful monitoring capabilities. Human detection and motion tracking allow the camera to recognise a person, follow detected movement and send notifications to the connected smartphone. The C201 also provides pet detection and tracking, allowing it to automatically follow a detected pet as it moves within the camera's coverage area. These detection functions are processed locally rather than requiring cloud processing. For night-time monitoring, the camera incorporates six infrared illuminators that provide clear images in dark conditions without producing a distracting visible red light. A high-sensitivity image sensor also helps the camera retain colour imagery for longer as ambient lighting becomes lower. The C201 supports two-way voice calls, combining a large-diameter speaker chamber with a noise-cancelling microphone so users can communicate remotely with people at home through their smartphone. Privacy is enhanced through physical lens shielding, which allows the lens to retract into the camera body when monitoring is not required. Xiaomi also incorporates its MJA1 security chip, encrypted data transmission and AES-128 cloud-data encryption. Wireless connectivity is provided through 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 6, with Bluetooth-assisted pairing for easier setup. Recordings can be stored locally using a compatible 8GB to 256GB microSD card or through supported cloud storage.
